Genworth Financial Data Warehouse Analyst in Stamford, Connecticut

Position Summary

The Application Development Analyst position will focus on delivering investments technology, and help build solutions that streamline and automate the management of Genworth’s Enterprise Data Management (EDM) capabilities. The ideal candidate will collaborate with a variety of teams across Investments to leverage reporting, analyses and ETL & Data Warehouse design with a customer service mindset.


  • Provide support for fixed income, commercial real estate and derivative data warehouses

  • Implement solutions that enhance, streamline and automate the management of our data warehouse systems

  • Review code and system interfaces and extracts to handle the migration of data between systems/databases

  • Coordinate work with onshore & offshore developers

  • Develop technical and functional test plans and scripts to validate the successful design, development and implementation of system and reporting deliverables

  • Provide reporting support for various Business Object universes

  • Trouble-shoot and run root cause analysis of application problems

  • Identify action items and make recommendations to address process and coding issues

  • Ensure data consistency as data moves across the enterprise

  • Collaborate with IT Infrastructure support teams

Basic Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance or related fields

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience developing and supporting financial applications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Finance, Investments, Portfolio Management and/or Capital Markets exposure

  • Experience related to managing extract load and transformation (ETL) processes by handling large volume of data transformations over Oracle data warehouse/ data marts

  • Working knowledge of Relational DBMS development using PL/SQL (Oracle) or T-SQL (Microsoft SQL Server)

  • Sound understanding of Data Warehouse best practices, relational structures and data warehouse and reporting techniques

  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel and Business Objects reporting applications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills, organizational skills and ability to collaborate

  • Some travel may be required (<10%) between Genworth's Richmond location

Preferred Qualifications

  • ETL, and Business Objects Universe Construction

  • Fixed income, Commercial Mortgage Loan or Derivatives experience

  • Experience implementing Markit EDM and/or Eagle PACE

  • Experience translating functional business requirements to technical specifications (preferably in the finance, accounting, derivative or portfolio management sectors)

  • Experience working in a matrix and distributed environments

  • Experience in developing and/or supporting Accounting, Finance, Investments, Portfolio Management and/or Capital Markets systems
