Genworth Financial Sr. Benefits Analyst in Richmond, Virginia


This newly created role will report to the Benefits Manager, and have administrative responsibilities for the company’s retirement plans and executive retirement programs. Additionally, this role will coordinate invoicing and periodic audits of invoices and data feeds in support of the broader global benefits and payroll team. The successful candidate will be both detail and service oriented, and able to work independently with internal and external sources on the responsibilities noted below.


  • Management and administration of Genworth’s Retirement & Savings 401k Plan, including bi-weekly contributions, researching and responding to HR & participant inquiries related to the plan, coordination of annual plan audit with external auditors & develop and distribute plan communications

  • Periodic audit of 401k and [other welfare] benefit deductions for accuracy; coordinate with legal department and payroll for issue resolution

  • Administration of non-qualified retirement programs, including Supplemental Executive Retirement Program, 401k Restoration Plan and Deferred Compensation Plan. Responsibilities include calculation of contributions, responding to benefit inquiries, ad hoc benefit calculations, plan audits and payment of benefits.

  • Manage vendor relationships with third party plan administrators, trustees and actuaries

  • Maintain and update retirement plan Summary Plan Descriptions as needed

  • Develop and update budget for retirement plans on a quarterly basis

  • Respond to third party retirement plan administrator inquiries on our indicative file feed errors

  • Intranet maintenance for benefit plan information


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education

  • 3 years in benefits administration, preferably retirement plan administration

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including both written and verbal communication

  • Strong sensitivity to handling confidential information

  • High level of initiative with a drive for results and ability to multi-task

  • Extremely detail oriented

  • Strong Microsoft Office experience including Excel, Word and Powerpoint


  • Experience with Retirement Plan Administration
