SUMMARY

The Model Risk Team manages model risk for the USLI segment, Investment function and Corporate functions. The senior model risk manager will work as part of this team to build a comprehensive assessment of model risk across various processes that rely on models. He/she will have oversight to partner with 1st, 2nd and 3rd line resources to develop insights into the processes, and to identify risks and controls.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the assessment of model risk:

  • Initiate and drive a plan to build a repeatable process for the comprehensive documentation of model risk across the USLI segment, Investment function and Corporate functions

  • Cultivate relationships and channels of communication across the businesses and functions to maintain visibility and accessibility to activities and issues affecting the modeling community

  • Build, drive and maintain a comprehensive assessment of model risk – including processes, models, assumptions, calculations and other activities – with updates at least annually

  • Work with Risk and business partners to analyze model risk exposures and propose recommendations on controls and prioritization

  • Lead and coordinate model and assumption governance forums: communication, documentation, charters, attendance, agendas, materials, issues resolution, compliance, management report outs, interaction with Senior Leadership

  • Oversight of the collection, tracking and reporting of governance and model risk issues through remediation

  • Responsible for tracking progress, timelines and delivery/ expectations for model risk projects and goals

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 10+yrs experience in Actuarial, Finance, Risk or IT functions

  • Strong project management and analytical skills

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and advance multiple initiatives

  • Successful experience challenging and influencing the business and senior leaders in a highly collaborative way

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Governance and Controls background

  • Enterprise Risk Management experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent
