Genworth Financial Financial Reporting Manager - Chinese GAAP Financial Reporting Consultant in Richmond, Virginia


This position will be instrumental in adding value to Genworth through the financial reporting team, with a focus on building capabilities in International reporting and supporting the overall strategy of the Company. In this role, the right candidate will work across the organization to ensure the accuracy, integrity and compliance of reported results, while driving efficiencies in financial reporting and maintaining a focus on timely execution.


  • Assist in the coordination and preparation of U.S. GAAP and expected Chinese GAAP financial statements

  • Includes preparing U.S. GAAP financial statements and disclosures on a quarterly and annual basis

  • Expected to include preparing Chinese GAAP financial statements and disclosures on a quarterly and annual basis

  • Includes writing MD&A and gathering support for analysis

  • Includes; Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-Ks, and other related filings, as well as review of XBRL submissions related to assigned footnotes, while a public company or voluntary filerIncludes working with external auditors

  • Review press releases and presentations to external parties as neededSupport businesses and functional areas on questions and issues that come up during the closeSupport other initiatives, such as Policies & Procedures and Unified Oracle

  • Support special projects as necessary

Special Working Conditions:

  • Travel is limited to rare occasions, such as training sessions and ad hoc company events

  • Overtime is required, especially during quarterly and annual reporting cycles or during critical projects


  • BS or BA in accounting

  • 5+ years relevant experience

  • Strong oral and written communication skills - including ability to draft footnotes and MD&A wording

  • Strong computer skills, including desktop and general ledger software

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group

  • Ability to foster and promote a team environment

  • Ability to work in cross functional teams

  • Strong critical thinking skills

  • Ability to research technical accounting literature and form decisive conclusions


  • Insurance or financial services experience a big plus

  • • Previous financial reporting experience

  • • CPA or CPA candidate

  • Chinese Mandarin language familiarity or fluency
